5 healthy reasons to have more sex
Sex is not just nice.
A large number of studies indicate that it is good for both body and soul!
Inspired by the Daily Mail, we gather 5 awesome reasons to have more sex.
1. Better mood
During sex (and hopefully orgasm) a wonderful cocktail of endorphins, neurotransmitters and hormones is released in the body. In particular, oxytocin has a number of important effects, such as alleviating anxiety, relieving aggression and probably also stress, which helps us sleep. It goes by the name "love hormone" or "hug hormone". Another key ingredient is serotonin, a natural antidepressant.
A study published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior has concluded that sexually active women are less likely to suffer from depression than women who do not have sex.

2. Stronger heart
Six days a week reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke, at least according to the researchers behind a study from Queens University in Belfast.
A common perception is that it can be risky to have sex, especially for men, older up, but the experts do not agree.
- Sex is just another form of exercise. Much like walking 1.5 kilometers or going up two stairs, says Professor Peter Weisberg from the British Heart Foundation to the Daily Mail.
- If you can do it, there should be no risk of having sex either.
Cruel immune system
Having sex once a week has on several occasions been linked to increased resistance to both colds and flu. In a small study from 1999, researchers from Wilkes University found higher levels of specific antibodies in people with an active sex life.

4. Longer life
A large Welsh study, focusing on men, noted a link between a little sex and dying prematurely. One theory is that it has to do with the hormone dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) which is released during sexual intercourse. Natural DHEA has a number of positive effects in the body, including for the immune system. It is also believed to affect age-related diseases.
According to the Daily Mail, just before an orgasm, DHEA levels rise to almost three times higher than normal.

Hälsoliv recently wrote about a new study that shows that sex seems to increase our cognitive ability, especially among people over 50 years. People who had sex often succeeded in the study better than average in a number of different tests that the researchers conducted.

Sex is nice and super good for health, but is unfortunately de-prioritized in many relationships. Read about 6 healthy benefits of having sex.
Stronger heart
The deep breaths during a hot intercourse make your body relax and oxygenate your blood. It's good for the heart. It is also the hormones oxytocin and DHEA, which are released during an orgasm and can prevent heart problems.
2. Minor headache
If you suffer from headaches or migraines, sex may alleviate the evil. In an American migraine study, at least half of the subjects experienced that the headache decreased after intercourse.
Less stress and stable blood pressure
Six release substances that have a calming effect and thus can reduce stress. At the same time, it has a positive effect on your blood pressure and helps you stay calm in stressful situations. For example, a study has shown that a group of speakers were not so physically pressured after having sex.
4. Better mood
Sex releases endorphins and other happiness hormones and the positive effect can be long. Experiments have shown that women are happier after sex or loving touch - not only right afterwards but also the day after.
5. Burns calories
A nice intercourse makes you sweaty and exhausted - just like after training. And it can actually be compared to that, because on average you burn 150 calories with half an hour of sex.
6. Protects against cancer
The sex hormone oxytocin has many good properties, but one of the most important is probably that it seems to be able to protect against breast cancer. There are at least studies that indicate that regular sex has a preventive effect when it comes to cancer.
